Guidance for organisations looking to nominate potential members of the International Federation of Accountants' (IFAC's) boards and committees have been issued.
The IFAC has published two documents to help with preparations - a Notice of the Call for Nominations and Developing a Nominations Strategy, which are aimed at ensuring the best person is appointed to each available position.
As well as this, the guidance also seeks to ensure the boards and committees have a good gender, regional and professional balance.
A spokesperson for the IFAC said: "These extensive publications contain strategic and practical advice for nominating organisations, allowing them to make more informed decisions in selecting the persons they nominate and to understand what is expected of them."
The call for nominations for appointments in 2011 will come on January 15th 2010.
Organisations will then have until March 15th 2010 to submit names to the IFAC.
Earlier this month, the IFAC renewed its calls for the adoption of a global set of accounting standards, claiming that they would benefit the man in the street as well as businesses.
