While the employment market may have looked a daunting prospect for accountancy graduates a short time ago, recent statistics show business confidence in the UK is now at a two-year high.
According to the Lloyds TSB Business in Britain Survey, more than a fifth (21 per cent) of companies are now predicting a rise in sales over the next six months.
This is compared to just one per cent of firms in December 2008, with the news coming on the same day as government figures showed the smallest rise in unemployment since spring last year.
According to NFEA - the national enterprise network, the rise in optimism can only be good news for the UK business environment.
"My feeling is that [the increased positivity] is because business is saying that it could have been a hell of a lot worse," explained chief executive George Derbyshire.
He added that a "responsible view to employment" had benefited both employees and businesses during the recession, with flexible working practices helping considerably.
