Million+ calls for improved part-time student financing Students enrolled on part-time courses in England should be entitled to grants and loans in the same way that full-time students are.

This is according to the Million+ group, which represents new universities and has called for improved financial support for part-time students, the BBC reports.

Despite this group making up 43 per cent of England's student population, many of whom are studying for undergraduate degrees, there is no one unified student finance system.

Million+, whose plans were announced in the House of Commons earlier this week, believes that this could be financed by raising interest levels on student loans.

Using this method, the group argues, approximately £1 billion can be raised without having to increase tuition fees.

After the general election, the government will publish an enquiry into England's university funding, which will debate whether tuition fees will need to rise in light of an increased demand for higher education.

Million+'s mission is to enable people from different backgrounds to access university courses.ADNFCR-868-ID-19561403-ADNFCR
