Graduate recruitment to pick up in 2010 Accountancy graduates currently looking for work may be buoyed by the news that many top firms intend to step up their graduate recruitment activities in 2010.

According to a recent High Fliers Research survey, a number of the UK's foremost employers plan to invest more in taking on new staff this year.

Many of the roles will be handed to graduates who left university in summer 2009 and those with previous work experience.

Graduate Prospects said there have been definite signs of recovery in the employment market for university leavers.

Chief executive Mike Hill noted that December was been much busier than usual in terms of graduate recruitment.

"We certainly saw in the early 90s that as the number of people who are unemployed rose, at the same time, the number of graduate vacancies increased and the number of graduate jobs increased," he added.

Mr Hill revealed that the market has been following a similar pattern to previous recessions, which could be good news for those with degrees.ADNFCR-868-ID-19566179-ADNFCR
