UK could create new industry for jobseekers Accountancy graduates could have a whole new industry in which to find jobs if the UK exploits its potential for becoming a world leader in low-carbon technologies.

According to environmental group Green Alliance, the UK could establish itself as a major figure in the green technology market.

Associate for the organisation Chris Hewett explained that the country has the required manufacturing skills base and potential for training a workforce to make a major impression in the industry.

He added that the nation should ensure that, as it seeks to cut its carbon footprint, the technology used is manufactured in the UK.

"The more of that manufacturing we can secure via our own workforce the better," he said.

The Liberal Democrats recently pledged in their manifesto that it will create 57,000 green jobs if voted into power.

According to the political party, it will invest £400 million into disused shipyards to convert them into facilities for producing offshore wind turbines.ADNFCR-868-ID-19618854-ADNFCR
