A new campaign has been set up to encourage graduates to opt for a career in social work.
The Step Up To Social Work initiative has been launched to assist university leavers in picking up the skills necessary to complete a masters degree.
Set up by the Children's Workforce Development Council, the campaign is being piloted in the north-west, Yorkshire & Humberside, West Midlands, east, east Midlands and London.
As part of the programme, 200 graduates with a minimum of a 2.1 degree and relevant experience will be recruited through local authorities.
The move is a positive step, according to Graduate Recruitment Bureau co-founder Dan Hawes.
He said that financial assistance from the government could really help graduates progress their career further.
"Graduates are now considering lots of different options," Mr Hawes explained. "They are not entirely focussed on getting a job because they see that the job they want is not available because the market is struggling."
