Students should not stress about the process of another year of delays to finance, it has been suggested.
Last year, university attendees around the country were left without their loans until weeks after the start of term due to "critical" failures in the Student Loan Company's (SLC) processing system.
With around twice as many applications expected in 2010, a recent National Audit Office report said there was a risk that there could be a repetition of the fiasco.
However, BrightsideUNIAID chief executive Dr Tessa Stone said there is no point in students worrying about a problem that might not occur.
She explained that it is likely that universities and the SLC will be more vigilant and proactive this year, cutting the risk of further delays.
"If it does happen again, there will be a lot of people in the same boat, and I think, too, that universities this year will have a very eagle eye on this," the expert noted.
Dr Stone suggested that students get their applications in as quickly as possible to help ease pressure on the system.
