Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) has given the go-ahead to a new electronic system that will allow P60 forms to be filled out electronically.

As of the fiscal year 2010/11, the Pay As You Earn (PAYE) tax will now be provided electronically by employers, allowing employees to view their ‘eP60’ form online.

Along with the environmental benefits, employees will have easy access to all their end-of-year financial information and will be able to log in when required to complete self-assessment and proof of earnings.

Paper versions of the forms will still need to be submitted to HMRC, and employers must ensure that employees have access to a secure printed version. All employees will have the choice to switch to online.

The technology, provided by HR and payroll services provider Ceridian, is part of a wider move towards bringing all of HMRC’s services online.
