An annual survey from the UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) has revealed that foreign investment within the financial services sector has sharply jumped over the past year, indicating a heightened interest in the UK from foreign-owned organisations.

The survey, which measures the rate of foreign investment into the UK, found that over 17,000 jobs in the financial sector were created or retained due to international investment, jumping a massive 200 per cent from the previous year.

Over 50 countries invested in the UK, with the United States, Japan, France, Germany and Australia all significantly contributing to the boost in jobs.

The UK was found to be the preferred location for international businesses looking to establish their European headquarters.

In total, nearly 100,000 jobs were created or safeguarded across all sectors from foreign investment.
