IFA becomes full IFAC member

21 November 2011 In Accountancy

The IFA has been granted full membership to The International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the global body for the accountancy profession. The announcement was made at IFAC’s annual Council meeting in Berlin on 16th November 2011.

Full membership of IFAC places the IFA alongside the UK and Ireland’s six chartered bodies, and 135 national and regional accountancy organisations, representing 125 countries and jurisdictions.

For IFA members in practice or business, this is a significant development as full IFAC membership for the IFA testifies – to clients, employees, colleagues and business partners – to their Financial and operational viability, Governance, Regulatory frameworks, support for members, professionalism and ethics.

‘Full membership of IFAC represents the achievement of a major strategic milestone’, says David Woodgate, the IFA’s chief executive.

The IFA’s membership of the IFAC will also enhance the career prospects for IFA students, who will now have a qualification on their CV, from the only non-chartered professional accounting body in the UK and Ireland to enjoy full membership of IFAC.
