Are you on the right wavelength?

Recent surveys from GAAPweb have found that, when it comes to graduate recruitment, employers and employees are all on the same wavelength!

Both graduates and recruiters told us that:

  • Work experience is an absolute ‘must have’, coming far above other skills and achievements in landing a graduate role. Employers are also looking for language skills and first time exam passes in new recruits.
  • Support to study for professional qualifications is top of most graduates’ wish-lists and is the most common perk offered by graduate recruiters.
  • Most employers expect graduate hires to stay for 18 months – 2 years. The good news for them is that loyalty is obviously important to the latest generation of graduates – most of whom expect to wait 2-3 years before moving on.

And all concerned will be relieved to know that the issue of a pay rise or promotion shouldn’t be awkward as most graduates and employers anticipate a review after 6-12 months!
