Sport Wales’ vision is to unite a proud sporting nation; ensuring every child is hooked on sport for life and positioning Wales internationally as a nation of champions. To realise this bold ambition, it is building a new Senior Management Team and seeks a Finance Director to contribute strategically to the organisation’s development by leading the financial direction and bringing a commercial approach to the management and delivery of sport. This exciting role offers significant accountability to drive investments for sport in Wales; in a country growing its sporting successes and in an organisation pursuing a high performing culture.

Role

• Working as part of the Senior Management Team, you will lead the development of the organisation’s Financial and Investment Strategy, providing financial leadership and managing and interpreting financial reporting to advise, influence and support the commercialisation and development of Sport Wales and sport in Wales
• Lead and direct the Finance and HR teams in providing a robust and effective financial infrastructure and people strategy; ensuring the organisation is compliant with all legal, statutory and regulatory requirements
• Undertake a number of corporate duties to include the delivery of organisational development and change, corporate and business planning and risk management

Background

• Qualified accountant with demonstrable leadership and management experience gained at a senior level, ideally but not exclusively from the public sector
• Clear commercial acumen, an empathy for the values of Sport Wales, first rate accounting knowledge, analytical ability with sound judgement and excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experienced in leading teams to achieve sustainable performance against ambitious targets
