The Defence Equipment and Support (DE&S) organisation require four highly skilled, qualified (CCAB / CIMA) Senior Finance Managers. These prestigious roles will place you in the heart of a unique organisation undergoing significant development allowing you to utilise your programme management skills to help shape their future whilst learning new skills delivery multiple finance projects across a wide portfolio.

Day-to-day DE&S finance officer’s work within the Operating Centre (OC) Project and Delivery Teams that procure and support the equipment that MoD requires. Financiers work alongside military colleagues, project managers, commercial officers, inventory managers, technical experts and risk managers to ensure that the equipment the MoD purchases is fit for purpose and achieves the best possible value for money.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Direct support to the Chief Finance Officer for an environment (Air, Sea, Land)
• Preparation of financial reports and briefings to senior staff and customers.
• Research, preparation and submission of budgets, forecasts and Long Term Plans, including working closely with Front Line Commands to plan and manage budgets.
• Provide financial control, governance and assurance in areas of responsibility.
• Provide financial advice to business Directors in relation to financial decision making.
• Ensure that all financial matters are in accordance with legislation and ethical accounting practices.
• Deputise for the Chief Finance Officer as required

Other the next three years DE&S have three clear priorities:

To be successful you must be able to demonstrate capability to manage circa 20 staff and £10M delegated signing powers.

Essential Skills: Financial governance
Financial forecasting
Complex procurement projects/programmes
Working at a senior level and reporting at Board level
Commercial awareness and understanding non-financial aspects of the wider business
Working on regular financial processes and in-year management of the finance function
Skilled in providing robust challenges to the business
Experience of relevant industry experience

Qualification: A recognised accountancy qualification (e.g. CCAB / CIMA)
Travel: Some posts may require UK/EU/US travel.
