Do you have proven senior level financial experience, ideally gained within a charity environment? Are you sympathetic to human right issues and the needs of asylum seekers?  Then consider a move to Migrant Help.

A leading charity that’s been established for over 50 years, we deliver a range of support and advice services to migrants across the UK. Our vision is for a global society that protects migrants, treats them with respect and enables them to become successful members of their communities. And, having recently won two national contracts to provide advice, guidance and assistance to all adult asylum seekers and dependants applying for support or already in the UK asylum process, we now need to build upon our dedicated head office team.

A challenging role that will see you make a major contribution to our overall success, you won’t just be responsible for managing our Finance department and its associated staff. You’ll also provide vital support and assistance to our Corporate Services Director. And of course, you’ll get involved in a range of finance related activities such as management accounting, cash flow forecasting, Year End, payroll, pension and life insurance returns etc., not to mention liaise with external auditors as and when required. What’s more, you’ll be encouraged to take a particular interest in our Trading Arm, including preparing a budget and business plan. And, all the while, you’ll be mindful of the need to aim for 'value for money' right across the organisation.

A fully qualified CCAB member, your varied practical experience has given you an excellent understanding of VAT law (in particular partial exemption) and the legislation and SORPs relating to charities, employment and finance. You’re also well-versed in electronic banking and highly proficient using SAGE and other accounting software packages like Purchase Order. Advanced spreadsheet and good

all-round IT skills are key, as is the ability to clearly explain procedures to colleagues with a widely differing knowledge of our systems. Methodical and accurate when dealing with figures, you never forget that ‘the client comes first’ and are able to relate well to a wide range of people both within and outside an organisation. Last but not least, your flexible approach means you’re willing to travel and work irregular hours, sometimes in isolation, as and when required.
