Management Accountant
Who We Are:
PegasusLife is a business on a mission to fundamentally change the way retirement property is understood and delivered in the UK. The company began life 30 years ago as a medium sized developer in the sector and over the last 3 decades has proven itself to be a solid provider of retirement housing in the UK.
We are now embarking on a new chapter which has included an influx of talent from both within and outside of the traditional sector, and a complete re-definition & repositioning of the product. This new vision is captured via the recent re-brand to PegasusLife and is soon to be evidenced through the many developments we will be building in the coming years.
The Role - Management Accountant:
Our finance team helps us achieve our aims by managing the day to day financial operations and supplying the information needed to support the strategic decision making processes.
As part of the Pegasus’ ambitious growth it has started to enter new disciplines and areas where we require someone to manage their entire finance function. The role of Management Accountant entails responsibility for the fledgling Property Development operating in Ireland and also the start-up Property Management business. Entering at this exciting time offers the opportunity to help develop the systems that will be used to improve the growth of these businesses as well as understudy the role of the Finance Manager. Initially this will naturally entail a lot of hands on work from processing invoices to preparing accounts, but with a view to progressing either within one of these divisions or within the principal business. The role has a significant degree of autonomy but you will also be working alongside an established team where support will be available and in turn you will become a valuable resource to them. As one would expect in a role of this nature you will need to meet regular deadlines for both reporting and transactions.
This is a challenging and varied role with great prospects if you are willing to work.
What We Are Looking For In A Management Accountant:
Your approach means that you strive to exceed expectations, take a long term view and treat everyone with respect. Our philosophy of improving, evolving and positively challenging the norm and ourselves will already be a part of your day to day life. Motivation is important and you’ll be able to work on your own initiative, but also contribute to the wider PegasusLife team.
As you would expect with our sights set so high, expectations are also high and your experience will be the key to meeting and exceeding them.
You will be responsible for preparing the accounts of the Irish Property Development division, therefore some familiarity of dealing within the Eurozone will be of value. You will have prepared and presented management and statutory accounts using an accounting package. COINS is used here and prior experience of this would be advantageous. A substantial aspect of the work will be dealing closely with accountants in Ireland to ensure that all relevant statutory, tax and accounting requirements are met.
For the Property Management aspect of the business experience or understanding of service charge accounting and preparation of service charge budgets would be highly beneficial.
As Management Accountant, you will be able to work effectively under pressure, prioritising so that you meet your deadlines. Organisation, multi-tasking and practical problem solving are also included in your key skills and you will be able to combine seeing the bigger picture with the attention to detail that ensures a high quality result.
You will also be highly IT literate, having an excellent working knowledge of spreadsheets and documents, and experience of using accounts packages and web-based email which you will be able to transfer to our systems.
In terms of qualifications, you will be AAT/ CIMA qualified or part-qualified
Location, salary and benefits
We offer a salary of £35,000 pa and a competitive benefits package.
The role is based at Cheltenham office but will require attendance at our Winchester office on occasion (at least quarterly) to meet up with the rest of the team as well as occasional visits to Ireland
