Management Accountant Role

Xchanging Technology Services (XTS) is currently looking to recruit a qualified managment accountant to join the shared services finance team based in Basildon. This management accountant role will work with the Group IT & Change team and will be responsible for a cost base of circa £15-20m, along with providing finance support on the central services (HR, Sales & Marketing and others).

Shared services are a strategic initiative to bring together functions that lend themselves to common strategy across the business & will help optimise cost base over the next few years. The management accountant role will play a pivotal part in supporting this initiative.

The IT function has ambitious cost saving plans over the next 2 years and this role will assist with the implementation & in providing challenge to those plans.

The management accountant role interacts with IT senior management and therefore will suit the individual that demonstrates business acumen by challenging the status quo and showcasing ideas for service improvements. Interest in Enterprise IT is desirable, but not essential.

Key Accountabilities for the Management Accountant

  • Costing of various services provided by Internal IT to the wider business.
  • Accounting for all transactions (with the help of off-shore financial accounting team) & taking lead role on carving costs out of wider business into the shared services function.
  • Monthly management accounting & reporting, including variance analysis.
  • Analysis of cost base to understand opportunities for improvements.
  • Work collaboratively with the IT Management team to understand issues and find solutions.
  • Responsibility for preparation & analysis of monthly Management Accounts.
  • Ensuring intercompany trade and balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis
  • Preparation of budget and forecasts.
  • Working with GFSS (Global Finance Shared Services) who provide transactional services to IT function including: accounts payable; accounts receivable; cash management; ledger maintenance; balance sheet reconciliation
  • Monthly reporting packs
  • Support on annual, half year and interim statutory audit process.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications for the Management Accountant

  • Qualified ACA, CIMA or ACCA.
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment
  • Ability to manage key stakeholders
  • Ability to influence and interact with senior management
  • Strong organisational, multi-tasking and analytical skills
  • Experienced in reviewing/assessing commercial arrangements and business models
  • Excellent oral and written communication & presentation skills
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel. (IF, Lookup, Pivot)
  • Proficient in Word and PowerPoint
  • SAP knowledge desirable
