JOB DESCRIPTION
To be responsible for the financial accounting and controls of the museum,
in particular:
Prepare the annual statutory accounts of the two legal entities of the
museum;
Effectively manage the two finance assistants;
Review and control the museum balance sheet to ensure correct
recognition of assets and liabilities;
Review and manage the sales and purchase ledger to ensure efficient
debtor collection and creditor payment;
Manage the banking facilities, prepare regular cash flow forecasts and
ensure active cash management;
Ensure compliance with tax regulations including VAT, PAYE,
corporation tax and gift aid;
Review the monthly payroll and improve processes and systems for
payroll preparation;
Be responsible for the maintenance of, training on and improvements
required in finance systems;
Liaise with key finance suppliers including banks, auditors and finance
software providers.
Maintain and update accounting and finance policies;
Experience
Qualified Accountant ( ACA,ACCA,CIMA) -Essential
Strong experience in financial controls and statutory financial reporting
- ideal
Auditing experience - strongly preferred
Experience in improving finance processes using systems - strongly
preferred
Intermediate knowledge of excel - essential
Experience of integrating finance systems with other systems -
strongly preferred
Tax knowledge, in particular charity VAT - strongly preferred
Knowledge of charity accounting rules - strongly preferred
Experience in communicating finance policies to the business and
ensuring adherence to these policies - preferred
Cash flow management - preferred
Experience of managing a small team - desirable
Experience in Access Dimensions, Focal Point and Sage payroll -
desirable
