Our client is a high profile, fast paced and entrepreneurial asset manager that identifies, acquires and manages real estate on behalf of long-term investors. Based in central London, the business is at an exciting phase in its lifecycle with a clear strategic vision for growth across the various sectors it operates within.

To support and facilitate this growth, the business is now looking to strengthen its senior management team by recruiting a high calibre Finance Director. Reporting into and working closely with the CEO, this individual will be responsible for leading, developing and enhancing the entire Finance & Operations back office team including Finance, HR, IT, Operations and Company Secretarial.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Proactive management, development and ongoing motivation of the central finance and back office teams, ensuring appropriate structures are in place to service the business, drive continuous improvement, best practice, efficiency and career development
  • Investigating, challenging and ensuring the robustness of all financial controls, processes and systems identifying any risks or weaknesses, creating effective solutions and then driving through and implementing value adding change
  • Creating simple, effective and accurate management reporting for the CEO along with appropriate dashboard reports and providing comprehensive, regular information on the revenues and expenditure of the company.
  • Managing and overseeing financial and management reporting, budgeting & forecasting and company cash flow to agreed deadlines and with full analysis and insight, highlighting any areas of concern
  • Provide consulting services on matters relating to fundraising, tax, treasury, corporate governance,  insurance and business structure and growth, evaluating any risks to the company’s finances and implementing measures to mitigate these risks
  • Leading key ad hoc projects ensuring the that financial operations of the business meet the expectations of the CEO and that the vision and plans of the CEO are successfully implemented

The successful candidate will be a technically strong qualified accountant with a demonstrable track record of driving through change. A confident self-starter, you will have exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and build strong relationships, and have the credibility and gravitas to challenge and push back.

Prior experience of managing, leading and successfully developing a finance team will be essential. Equally as important are a “shirt sleeves” mentality, a willingness to get into the detail and a good knowledge of “what good looks like”. The successful candidate will enjoy creating and operating within a change oriented and fast paced environment.
