SG Gaming is the UK arm of NASDAQ quoted, Scientific Games (SGMS). We are the UK’s leading provider of gaming machines to high street bookmakers, arcades and bingo clubs. We are seeking a technically skilled accountant to take up a position as our Head of Financial Reporting.  You will lead a team of 5 accountants with responsibility for the timeliness and quality of all statutory and management accounting outputs. This role offers a great opportunity for an ambitious individual who has mastered the technical aspects of their work and is now looking to take a managerial role as the next step towards FC/FD level.

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will be responsible for closing the books each month and handling all internal and external financial reporting. A key part of your work outside of the month end close will be supporting the introduction of a new ERP system with real opportunity to influence its design.  You will deliver a vision of financial reporting which aligns the outputs of the finance team to the commercial activities of the business working with FP&A to bring better insight to the board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide the team to achieve accurate and rapid financial close each month end
  • Use your coaching abilities to upskill the team
  • Be a source of technical accounting expertise
  • Deputise for the Group FC when they are not available

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Ideally ACA qualified, likely to be Big 4 but all good technical candidates will be considered
  • Strong academics with a good numerate degree
  • Solid experience of preparing management accounts within a complex multi-entity business
  • Recent hands-on frequent use of a complex ERP system such as Oracle or SAP
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and the SEC reporting process
  • Manufacturing accounting expertise required, with a thorough understanding of the challenges of inventory and fixed asset tracking
  • Understanding of best practice in setting and enforcing control environments
  • Some experience of staff management, including team build and development
  • Advanced Excel
