At Central YMCA, we’re building upon our incredible history through the talent and dedication of our staff and volunteers.  That’s why we’re looking for great people who can inspire and deliver change.  We can provide you with a fulfilling role that makes you happy to come to work in the morning, and where you can go home knowing that you’ve made a difference.

As Head of Finance, you will lead our financial and management accounting processes, ensuring the integrity of financial performance information; thereby meeting the charity’s statutory reporting requirements and providing our leadership team with a thorough understanding of Central YMCA’s performance.

We are looking for someone who can provide insight into performance, challenge the status quo and recommend changes to current practises in order to meet the charity’s financial objectives.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • You will lead a small team with direct responsibility for two Business Partners and a Financial Accountant
  • You will manage the co-ordination and output of the charity’s financial planning processes, and produce plans in consultation with operations that meet the charity’s financial targets
  • You will formulate and manage the charity’s financial control policies, and also lead the process of management accounting for the charity
  • You will ensure that the Finance Team are continually improving in effectiveness and efficiency
  • You will manage and monitor both accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • You will also be responsible for the charity’s expenses, treasury and statutory matters

The successful candidate will ideally be degree level educated, with significant years’ experience post CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualification, and will have a proven track record of managing the full finance function or a breadth of experience across finance disciplines.  Commercially minded, you will have the ability to analyse complex financial information and communicate this in easily understood formats to non-financial Managers.

A natural leader you will inspire, motivate and develop your team to achieve the highest success.  You will also have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as discretion when handling confidential and sensitive issues.  It also goes without saying that you will possess a high level of integrity and professional conscience that will fit with the broader ethics and values of Central YMCA.
