Based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, our prestigious international manufacturing client is looking for an R&D Management Accountant to join their team on a temporary basis c.3 months.

This job would suit an accountant, either part qualified or full qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA, with a strong R&D understanding to be responsible for the financial management and reporting of all things Research & Development related.

This business employs over 10,000 people worldwide in over 45 locations around the globe and has recently added more responsibility into this site resulting in this extra head needed to drive improved decision support. The company overall holds a market leading position in this sector and continues in its desire to lead the market.

The successful individual will be a studying part qualified CIMA or ACCA accountant or fully qualified commercial accountant with strong experience in leading a management accounting function in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Duties will include:

  • Acting as Business Partner providing financial support to the Operations and Project functions for the effective delivery of R&D projects
  • Produce detailed analysis of engineering spend to budget / forecast
  • Review and challenge financial performance with Operations and Project management
  • Identify opportunities to improve performance and forecasting
  • Manage budgets on large scale R&D projects with accurate and timely reporting
  • Responsible for reporting operational spend by project
  • Train Project Managers to increase their financial awareness
  • Maintain a robust and flexible accounting system which enables full project financial review and analysis
  • Responsible for managing R&D Tax credits and R&T subsidies
  • Provide forecast update as and when required with explanation for variances, aligning forecast with S&OP process
  • Ensure that revenue recognition requirements are met
  • Responsible for impairment reviews and the calculation of participation payment amortisation
  • Delivery of policy deployment and cost containment metrics including understanding results and identifying opportunities for improvement including use of continuous improvement techniques
  • Support Financial Accounting team with the month end postings
