Group Accountant

The recent and continuing growth of the business has resulted in the requirement to further strengthen the Group Finance function.  Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, and part of a small head office team of three, this varied role includes a significant focus on internal financial control alongside a key involvement in a number of finance projects and initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a first-time mover out of practice to join a market leading Yorkshire based AIM quoted plc and have a real impact on the development of the finance function.

Essential skills and experience

  • ACA qualified
  • Up to 2 years post qualified experience (this is given for guidance only and all suitably qualified candidates would be considered)
  • Self-motivated and self-starter
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Must be able to work to deadlines
  • Ability to observe and understand business processes ensuring processes are documented completely and accurately
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal. Ability to deal with all levels of management.

Strong IT skills

  • IFRS accounting and Plc experience
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to travel (within the UK)

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience of technology/healthcare
  • Internal audit experience

Your job (not limited to the following)

  • Help develop and deliver a high quality internal audit plan
  • Work alongside the Group’s finance functions to embed internal financial controls
  • Involvement in the Group’s ERP system implementation, with consolidation and head office the first to migrate
  • Managing the impact of the end of UK GAAP (statutory accounts and accounting policies impact)
  • Help develop a group finance manual (including review of existing accounting policies)
  • Assistance with management accounts, statutory accounts and specific areas of technical accounting
