Overview

Reporting to the Risk & Compliance Director/MLRO, you will be responsible for providing leadership, guidance and support to the Company’s Compliance monitoring, financial crime and risk teams with the aim of delivering appropriate customer outcomes and robust risk mitigation across the group.

Deputising for the MLRO, responsible for dealing with all aspects concerning financial crime including money-laundering & terrorist finance prevention, sanction, corruption and fraud issues; providing oversight & support relating to financial crime, in accordance with SYSC 6.3.10

Key Responsibilities

Financial Perspective

  • Assist the Board in formulating the Group Risk Appetite and ensure its adherence across the group.

  • Development and implementation of an effective mechanism to monitor, evaluate and report on the Company’s success in managing risk.

  • Embeding a robust 2nd line of defence monitoring plan with focus on customer outcomes and key risk areas of the Company and its clients.

  • Continually monitor the effectiveness of AML systems and controls and make recommendations for changes, where appropriate.

Customer Perspective

  • Engage with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure the business is kept up to date with all business risks and emerging trends.

  • Establish visibility, credibility & strong working relationships across the business to help embed and promote a compliance and risk culture across the business, that is focused on appropriate customer outcomes

  • Manage the risk relationship with clients on a regular basis in accordance with agreed SLA’s

Process Perspective

  • Oversee the monitoring activity conducted by the 2nd line, financial crime activity and risk management processes.

  • Ensure internal disclosures are reviewed by the MLRO or authorised person; and that investigations and decisions are securely recorded and reports uploaded onto the SOCA website where appropriate.

  • Compile regular compliance reports & annual MLRO report for distribution to senior management and clients where appropriate.

People Perspective

  • Build effective working relationships with operational areas, senior management and internal audit and compliance in relation to risk identification and mitigation

  • Confidently communicate with clients at a senior level, both internally and externally, in relation to regulation/rules/guidance and the impact on the clients’ portfolios, with supporting evidence.

  • Lead the Risk, Financial Crime & Monitoring teams, undertaking training, development and succession planning.

  • Liaise and challenge the business on risk and control assessments on a regular basis

Qualifications & Experience

Essential

  • Degree or equivalent level qualification in relevant discipline

  • Detailed knowledge of FCA, CCA, DPA rules and guidance

  • Significant recent experience in a Risk/compliance function in an FCA regulated financial services firm.

  • Ability to assess business risks and implement mitigating actions, updating the Risk & Compliance Director on such matters

  • Maintain awareness of regulatory developments whist assessing the impact and implementing changes

Desirable

  • CeMap/IOC qualified (desirable)

  • Five years’ experience working in a financial services regulatory environment

  • Previous experience of implementing new procedures and regulations

  • Background in Financial crime prevention, including AML, Fraud, Sanctions & PEPs

  • Abillity to conduct trend analysis
