The UK subsidiary of a European company manufacturing energy saving products is looking for an Assistant Accountant/Credit Controller to join their company.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, this role will provide full accounting support to the Finance Manager to ensure the effective and efficient running of the finance function with specific responsibility for the credit control/cash management of sales activities within the UK market. Specifically, the position will be the main point of contact for credit control within the business with responsibility for the supervision and control over application for credit limits and internal reporting, proforma/deposit invoicing and income recognition, managing customer accounts to ensure credit terms and limits are adhered to, monthly submissions to the insurance company and pre-emptive credit control work to support collection of debt and overdue debt. You will also be expected to monitor and maintain any separately agreed payment plans, authorise weekly deliveries in line with customer account status, review the credit control processes to improve the collection of outstanding debts and provide monthly credit control reports. Accounting duties will include ensuring all month end data input is complete for month end closure, supporting the preparation of the monthly management accounts and month-end bank reconciliation, daily cash forecasting and control, preparing the quarterly VAT returns and contributing to the year-end audit.

To be successful, you will be a part qualified CICM/CIMA/ACCA with proven experience of credit control, purchase/sales ledger and reconciling balance sheet accounts. It would also be helpful if you have experience of working with credit insurers and have an understanding of the VAT rules in respect of EU supplies. The ideal candidate will be a personable individual committed to delivering high-quality results to customers and colleagues alike and who will always work productively and efficiently within a busy environment. You will also have a calm and professional manner able to manage several jobs at once under pressure.
