This Manchester based Housing Association are recruiting a Finance Manager to join the team, supporting the Assistant Director of Finance. This newly created job, is due to a recent promotion and will be focused on managing a small team whilst continuing with their ongoing programme of process improvement and development of the finance function.

Your job as Finance Manager will be responsible for the production of timely financial and management information, ensure efficient transactional activity is undertaken and enhance and enable improvements to systems and processes. You will be managing a small team via a small number of direct reports, with the core aim to enable the function to be able to deliver an efficient and effective financial service, whilst supporting internal customers to gain a full understanding of their budgetary areas of responsibility; and delivering the departmental KPIs.

You will build on the established relationships across the Group, and continually review and improve the services delivered. You will be collating directorate level management information to deliver timely and accurate financial management information, including the annual business plan and budget. You will be instrumental to developing and delivering the departmental strategies and policies, including treasury management.

Your job will be directly responsible for the completion of all statutory and regulatory returns, including VAT; Assist the Assistant Director of Finance in the preparation of reporting and the development of the 30 year business plan. You will proactively seek continuous improvement in the efficiency and accuracy of the service to deliver a customer focused, responsive and Value for Money service.

You must be a Qualified Accountant, ideally initially trained with in a practice environment, and preferably with commercial experience, coupled with experience of managing a busy finance environment in a similar role. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively at all levels for both internal and external customers.

You will have demonstrable experience of delivering continuous improvement in the services being delivered by the Finance Team, whilst retaining that hands on approach to ensure effective delivery and to achieve set deadlines. The role requires you to have strong IT skills, particularly in Excel.
