Our client holds a highly influential position within the financial services sector, and is a globally renowned name within its field of expertise. As a leading institution within the financial services sector, my client is looking for Financial Accountant who will be looking after the Financial Reporting and Analysis team in the Markets area.

As part of this team you will be responsible for the production of the annual report and accounts, managing the audit process and monitoring and supporting change projects. This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to gain experiences of the EEA’s operations and broaden their knowledge of accounting control and P&L monitoring. They will also gain a strong understanding of how the financial market operations work.

The candidate must have strong technical accounting skills, and experience of working within a control/process framework is essential.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation, analysis and reporting of daily P&L and daily/monthly management commentary
  • Interaction with front office portfolio managers, risk teams, systems and change managers
  • Preparation of monthly financial and management accounts
  • Leading on decisions and processes concerning key stakeholders, particularly in relation to external audit processes;
  • Provide guidance on ad hoc accounting issues.

The ideal candidate:

  • Qualified accountant (preferably ACA/ACCA/ACMA or equivalent) from a mid to top-tier firm;
  • Experience of working within the insurance sector is desirable, including an understanding of the industry’s regulatory environment;
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to quickly digest large quantities of financial data and effectively communicate the key points to non-finance divisions;
  • Extensive audit exposure in accordance with IFRS and UK GAAP;
  • Knowledge of Solvency II;
  • Exceptional management skills, combined with the ability to influence key external stakeholders.
