The work of the National Audit Office (NAO) is right at the heart of the drive to improve public service delivery. Through our audit work and investigations into the value for money of major projects and programmes we tackle the big issues facing government as it addresses the challenge to meet the continued demand for better public services with less resource. Our work programme is focused on three areas that impact on all government departments’ performance in achieving value for money: improving financial management and reporting; making better use of information; and ensuring that services are delivered cost-effectively.
The next few years will be demanding but we are determined to seize the opportunity to have even greater impact. Those providing public services will be highly scrutinised and in order to meet the challenge we will continue to transform how we work, applying our strengths, capabilities and insight to help government improve public services and to give Parliament assurance.
We are looking for a proven leader with board level experience and a strong audit track record to join our Leadership Team, providing dynamic and visible leadership to the full spectrum of our work, to our people and our organisation. Your contribution will add value beyond the audit track record that you will bring, enabling you to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and partners both internally and externally, driving performance and enabling continuous improvement. Your experience of operating at this senior board level is what will set you apart and if you can demonstrate the insight and impact to add value to our work, to work in a close collaborative team, and to take our people with you, then we want to hear from you.
