Our client is a FSTE 250 multi-million turnover UK wide retail distribution and logistics business which is delivering a strong performance in 2015.

As a consequence of the company acquiring a number of related bolt on businesses in 2014 an ambitious Assistant Financial Analyst is required to join the commercial team to support an increase in workload.

The role is fundamental to helping the commercial team prepare and deliver accurate and timely information to the Operational business

Reporting to the Senior Financial Analyst, duties will include:

  1. Provide daily, weekly and monthly reporting to key parts of the business (Stock Maintenance reporting, Distribution reporting, Revenue reporting) and give Senior Management & Operations a greater understanding of business performance.
  2. Assisting with the month end process – re Monthly Management & Sales packs and other ad-hoc projects as necessary to maintain the efficiency of the month end process.
  3. Assist in the annual budgeting and re-forecasting process, understanding management objectives, involving extensive liaison with Operational Managers and providing commentaries.
  4. Drive improvements and automation in MI output.
  5. Working closely with the other Financial Analysts in the team

Candidates applying for the Assistant Financial Analyst role must ideally:

  • Be Confident with Excel – pivot tables, v look ups, h look ups, sumifs etc
  • Have strong Communication skills – with the confidence to talk to people at all levels
  • Have a minimum of 2 years accounting experience 
  • Demonstrate a strong attention to detail
  • Quick to learn, someone who can pick things up quickly and run with them
  • Work under minimal supervision when required
  • Have a proactive approach to problem solving
  • An Analytical mind with the ability to manipulate large amounts of data 
  • Education – ideally degree but the client will accept someone without if good experience
  • Accountancy Qualification – ideally started studying ACCA/CIMA but again would consider those candidates who have not yet started studying with good experience
  • Consistent CV i.e.: Somebody who has not jumped around
  • Personality traits: Humble, hard working and bright
