Interim Management Accountant

Based in Stockport, this local Council department are actively recruiting an experienced Management Accountant to join our Technical and Exchequer team to cover corporate accountancy tasks and some aspects of treasury management. This is a temporary Management Accounting job and therefore requires local government experience.

The main purpose of the Management Accountants job is to provide management technical or professional expertise in the service area, managing high quality and effective corporate services, manage the resources and risk, giving guidance to ensure the council meets statutory and local requirements and ensure the Council manages its resources effectively delivering value for Monday, exploiting opportunities to drive out inefficiencies and generating income where appropriate.

More specifically the job holder will be assisting in the preparation of the medium term financial plan and capital programme. Your job will assist in the closure of the service accounts and the consolidation and production of the councils Statement of Accounts. Your job will also include some aspects of treasury management, ensuring compliance where relevant and that the council has efficient process and facilities to make and receive payments, and to ensure the cash handling service are efficient and effective across the council.

You will support the internal audit function and enable effective internal controls and compliance to the Public Sector Internal Audit Standards, and promote effective working relationships across all internal & external stakeholders.
