Key Objectives
The primary purpose of this role is to take control of the financial reporting of both the Limited business Shared Services business unit and the entire legal entity, ensuring the accurate UK financial accounting & reporting of the monthly and YTD company results, working under both UK and US GAAP. In addition this role will need to ensure statutory compliance for the UK, produce the year end audit file, produce preliminary Corporation Tax computations, complete quarterly VAT returns and work with local teams and head office to produce annual budgets and quarterly forecasts. The role will also require the completion of quarterly tax returns using AGP tax reporting package, under US GAAP, and various other reports on a regular basis.
Key Responsibilities
Statutory and Tax Compliance
File all tax and fiscal requirements within statutory deadlines
Ensure local and international VAT recorded appropriately within the accounts and reported on relevant returns accurately
Ensure that accounts are reconciled monthly between US and UK GAAP / FRS102.
Consolidation of divisional results into company results
Produce draft statutory accounts with fully backed up audit file
Preparation of draft Corporation Tax computations for statutory accounts
Calculate the payments of Corporation Tax on a quarterly basis under a GPA
Manage all local audits, both internal and external
Ensure complete, accurate local fiscal reporting with deadlines including coordination and management of other entities as required
Provide analyses and documentation for tax advisors for annual returns and other compliance
Month End
Support the timely and accurate completion of the monthly financial close
Produce statutory financial and management reports and analyses, with commentary (UK GAAP /FRS102)
Balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure completion by required deadlines
Monthly financial and management reports and analyses (US GAAP)
Management oversight for UK payrolls, reconciliation of monthly payrolls and query resolution
Preparation of certain month end journals e.g. Payroll
Other Duties
Provide cover for Shared Services Manager as required
Work effectively and provide support to all members of the Shared Services team
Communicate & execute suggestions for improved efficiency within the department & organisation
Assist in the development and training of colleagues
Use company assets with appropriate diligence and care
Take on any other duties that may reasonably be requested
Experience
Minimum of five years financial accounting experience
Knowledge of US GAAP, UK GAAP, FRS102 and statutory requirements
UK VAT and Corporation Tax experience
Good understanding of payroll
Essential Key Skills
Strong technical accounting skills
Proven ability to prioritize and manage workload
Ability to communicate and build relationships with people at different levels
Ability to work within a small, friendly and effective team
Advanced Excel
Other Skills
Experience with Hyperion Financial Management software preferred
Good system and analytical skills
Well organized
