Rapidly growing boutique private equity firm seeks the talents of a business savvy Commercial Analyst for a new and incredibly unique role. The company are a young private equity firm who invest into a highly specialised market where they are undisputed European market leaders. Owing to the successful close of a third fund they're now seeking to hire a bright and intelligent individual into the business to take on a role that will be split between fund and portfolio analytics and financial modeling and oversight for some of their fund accounting activities.
This role requires someone with strong modeling skills who is comfortable taking on an incredibly varied and diverse role that will involve significant interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Financial modeling at both a fund and asset level; this will include oversight for all underlying data ensuring it's integrity.
- Devising, building and presenting business intelligence from relevant data models and acting as the modeling champion for the firm.
- Analysing portfolio company movements to be able to accurately forecast IRR's and other performance metrics.
- Providing reports and data as required by investors and those dealing with investors.
- Creating monthly portfolio reports for senior management with insightful analysis and commentary.
- Support the FD with monthly fund accounting oversight - review of NAVs, financial statements, investor accounts and all underlying fund data.
The ideal person is likely to be:
- An experience modeler who has worked in a fund manager, private equity firm or similar. You must be able to build financial models from scratch with advanced Excel and VBA skills necessary. This role would suit someone who regards themselves as a modeler who can tell a story. It's not a position aimed at someone who wants to bury themselves in spreadsheets all day long.
- Formal professional qualifications - ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CFA or equivalent - would be helpful but aren't essential.
- You must be an intuitive and quick thinker with a commercial mindset. Day to day this role will involve talking through numbers with front office, providing recommendations/opinions and supporting decision making. You need to be comfortable and keen to do this with strong interpersonal skills and an approachable personality.
- A flexible and open minded personality given the small size of the firm and likelihood that you'll be involved in a host of ad hoc projects.
