Management Accountant

Starting salary £30,923 plus pension and excellent benefits

About the role

The Finance Department supports and assists the ICO in fulfilling the statutory duty to keep proper accounts and records, and maintain appropriate control over the collection and expenditure of public money.

As a Management Accountant, you’ll play an important role in managing the delivery of a professional, proactive and effective Finance service to all staff and managers in the ICO and in leading, developing and motivating the Finance team.

We’ll look to you to take a leading role in the development, implementation and management of the ICO finance policies and processes. You will report on and take ownership of month end processes to help ensure that the Finance function proactively supports the ICO to achieve its objectives.

About you

You will have a relevant accounting qualification (such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and at least five years prior experience of working in a financial environment, ideally within the public sector. You will also need up to date knowledge of current trends and practices within public sector finance.

You will have the ability to lead and supervise a team, experience of designing, implementing and managing finance process and policies and delivering month end processes and reports using a computerised finance system.

Strong analytical and numerical skills are essential, with the ability to identify and react to emerging issues. You will need to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills in order to build good relationships with managers and staff within the office, and our key external stakeholders. You’ll also have excellent written communication skills for preparing financial reports and an ability to deal with a demanding workload and conflicting demands on your time.
