An exciting role has become available for a Senior Financial Accountant to join an established but fast growing charity.

This organisation has a range of business activities and invests into socially beneficial enterprises and ideas. As such they have a highly commercial approach to business development and research.

The Senior Financial Accountant principal responsibility is preparing the consolidated annual statutory accounts and taking the lead on completing the annual statutory accounts for the smaller subsidiaries in the Group. You will also ensure compliance with external statutory, tax, VAT and EU funded project reporting requirements. This role works with HR and the outsourced payroll provider to ensure monthly payroll is processed, reconciled and posted accurately. Their role is to ensure effective finance controls, processes and policies are in place and assisting the Head of Finance to deliver a high performing finance function. This role takes responsibility for transaction processing and maintaining records for the Charitable Trust. The post holder will also have a role in supporting the partner organisations, working with other team members to prepare management accounts.

The role reports to the Head of Finance and currently manages two direct reports. He/she is expected to manage and develop their direct report(s) and to work collaboratively with the two management accountants.

Person Specification:

*Fully qualified accountant, ideally more than 2 years PQE
*The successful candidate will need to be adaptable with a "hands on" approach as this is a fast moving and growing business.
*Successful track record of accounting roles with a sound broad-based knowledge of day-to-day financial accounting practices and control; demonstrable track record and knowledge of the operational and technical aspects of payments processing, general ledgers, income, reconciliations, bookkeeping and provision of management information.
*Experience of playing a key role in the year-end process including external audits, ideally gained at least in part through the charity sector.
*Experience with managing and developing direct report(s) to attain a consistently high level of performance.
*Excellent communication skills, both written, oral and in presentation of financial information to non-financial colleagues.
*Strong analytical and numerical skills which will enable the jobholder to have a strong grasp of detail, able to assimilate and interpret financial and non-financial data and produce focused reports and spreadsheets.
*Good understanding of technical financial accounting, VAT and tax, and able to research to find solutions. Ideally a detailed working knowledge of the Charities' SORP.
