We are recruiting a Finance Manager to oversee the Circulation Accounting Function in EMEA. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining all necessary financial controls, systems and processes to ensure the effective delivery of group accounts and adequate financial risks management. You will also be responsible for the consolidation of the Global Circulation P&Ls as well as central departments within the Global structure. To achieve this goal, it is expected that the successful candidate will initiate and lead change within the accounting team.
Accountabilities:
In this role you will be expected to:
- Deliver the monthly management accounts including profit and loss, volume and KPIs, balance sheet, commentary and other financial analysis and present to the key business managers
- Work closely with the US and Asia based team to coordinate and consolidate the results from overseas business units and divisions
- Manage the preparation and review of Circulation balance sheet reconciliations and clear all differences, analyse and explain balance sheet movements
- Be the business Partner to the Marketing Teams by owning the preparation, consolidation and in-depth analysis of EMEA Marketing Sped
- Work with the Financial Projects team to develop, test and deliver reports and queries to provide greater insight into the business
- Work with external distribution and fulfillment providers to ensure that all financial transactions for subscriptions and trade sales are complete and accurately input
- Meet the reporting requirements including preparation and review of year end and half year statutory packs and supplementary schedules and liaise with auditors
- Review the financial and management accounting close process to define best practices
- Implement harmonized processes, reports and systems across EMEA and the Global Circulation businesses
- Ensure data integrity and that financial reporting free of material misstatements
- Partner with the Head of Financial Analysis and Planning to ensure all business events are appropriately reflected in the financial statements
- Improve efficiency of the month end process
- Design and implement appropriate internal control within the region
- Communicate internal control requirements to business leaders and ensure appropriate implementation of key controls
- Manage a team of 2-3 people including the work scheduling, coaching, review, mentoring, performance management and development
- Actively support the Finance Director, Global Circulation Analysis to ensure the priorities and critical initiatives are reflected in the financial accounting and reporting
Experience, skills and professional attributes:
To succeed in the role you must have:
- Good academics and be a Qualified Accountant with post qualification experience
- Previous experience in a management accounting role, preferable working with multiple products, currencies and geographic locations
- Technical accountancy skills, including knowledge of IFRS
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Experience of an ERP system (PeopleSoft an advantage)
- Good written and oral communication skills
- High level of professionalism and personal integrity
