Detailed Job Description

Arts Council England is a champion of developing and investing in artistic and cultural experiences in England.

This role will see you leading the organisation's Finance team, based in Manchester. You will ensure the provision of a good quality service to the wider organisation will be at the forefront of financial leadership to support good decision making. Reporting directly into the Chief Finance Officer, and deputising for them on occasion, you will have formal responsibility for three heads, including both Finance and non-Finance individuals.

Upon joining, you will become part of the wider national leadership group, and as such will be expected to work closely with other directors across the organisation. As part of the senior leadership group, you must operate as a fully interconnected business partner, and will be expected to work in an environment that relies on collaboration, flexibility and the ability to manage both formal and informal reporting relationships.

. You will ensure that the Finance team provides a good quality of support, training and advice to the rest of the organisation and will have a dynamic and flexible communicative approach. You will a trusted channel for advice to the Chief Finance Officer, and will support regulatory compliance procedures. You will oversee the production of administration budgets, ensuring efficiency targets are met and to put in place appropriate support and monitoring arrangements to ensure effective budgetary control across the organisation. You will oversee the provision of internal financial reports and financial modelling to support good decision making. Candidate's Profile

You will be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA) and have experience of managing a finance function in a medium sized organisation, preferably in the public or not for profit sector. 

You will be an excellent communicator, with proven influencing and interpersonal skills, and a track record of developing professional and personal credibility with colleagues at all levels. You will have a sound working knowledge of current financial reporting requirements, preferably including the Charity SORP and Government Accounting.

What's on offer

£50K - £70K – subject to skills and experience

25 days each year, plus an additional day for each complete leave year, up to a maximum of 30 days. There is also a winter closure of 27th to 31st of December which provides an extra three days leave.
