Financial Reporting Manager

Crawley, West Sussex

Up to £50,000 per annum

The Function:

Avios Group Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary of IAG plc. Finance operates at the heart of the business, providing finance support, analysis, external reporting and management information for all Avios schemes including both the British Airways Executive Club (AVBA) and the Iberia Plus (AVES) frequent flyer programmes.  The department’s success is judged by its efficiency, the accuracy and reliability of the information it reports, and the value it adds to the decision making process.

Job Purpose:

  • To own and manage the reporting packs sent to IAG.   
  • To own and manage the Balance Sheet Pack.
  • To own and co-ordinate the intercompany agreement process.
  • To own and manage the ABTA and ATOL returns and submissions.
  • To build strong relationships across our Group companies.
  • To implement any changes to the reporting process for efficiency and accuracy.

Key Role Responsibilities: 

  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reporting pack to IAG, managing the mapping of account lines from the Avios Group (AGL) Ltd accounts into the IAG listed accounts.
  • Prepare/review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis and commentary.
  • Co-ordinating the balance sheet reconciliation review process, across the wider finance department, to feed into the monthly Balance Sheet Pack.
  • Preparation of the monthly Balance Sheet Pack for the Senior Financial Accounting Manager to present on a monthly basis.
  • Preparation of a detailed cashflow statement on a monthly basis.
  • To be the key point of contact for all intercompany transactions/recharges, building up a network of contacts for each group company.  This will require travel to other group companies from time to time.
  • Fully document all intercompany transactions across the group, for incorporation in the manual of accounting and keep this up to date.
  • Establish and document an intercompany process for reporting internally on a monthly basis and quarterly to IAG, covering all companies within the Group and including associated commentary.
  • Establish and document a monthly intercompany settlement process across the Group, ensuring full agreement and approval from respective companies.
  • Ensure all contractual, intercompany finance obligations are adhered to by performing regular ‘audits/checks’, providing recommendations for any gaps on a timely basis.
  • Preparation of the  ABTA and ATOL returns and submissions on a monthly basis and as required.
  • Drive the smooth and efficient interim and final audit processes, together with the Senior Financial Accounting and Reporting Manager.
  • Provide cover for the Reporting team in their absence.
  • Ad-hoc reporting and project work as required.

Key personal capabilities:

  • Strong communication skills with a desire to drive and deliver across a complex Group environment.
  • Ability to work proactively under pressure and produce clear and accurate report and working papers, without compromising on quality.
  • Previous experience within the travel or loyalty industry would be an advantage.
  • Ability to lead this area confidently, liaising with a wide variety of people on a day-to-day basis.

Skills, qualifications, Expertise and Experience:

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA or ACA).
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and Databases is essential and experience with the following systems would be an advantage
  • ­Microsoft Access
  • Sun and Vision
  • Very good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards
  • Strong Spanish speaking would be of an advantage
