Head of Finance
My client is a membership organisation with approximately 500 members most of which are limited companies. There are also several trading Companies within the group.
Members are made up of manufacturers, suppliers and operators of amusement machines in the UK. These amusement machines include gaming machines found in pubs, private members clubs and adult gaming centres as well as amusement machines found in family entertainment centres. Our members also manufacture and supply juke boxes, kiddie rides, crane grab machines, pinball machines, kiddie rides, quiz machines etc
PURPOSE OF JOB
Working "hands on" within a small team, to provide overall management of all financial and company secretarial matters.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Manage and develop the accounting team
Ensure all financial records are properly kept and financial systems are robust and fit for purpose
Prepare all statutory and management financial reports required of the organisation
Ensure all returns to relevant authorities are made accurately and on time
Ensure the smooth running of the payroll function including compliance with all statutory requirements
Working with the Chief Executive and Treasurer to deliver robust budgets for approval by officers and directors
In conjunction with the Treasurer and Trustees, manage investments
Ensure efficient management of cash flow.
Provide challenging, strategic and operational advice to the Chief Executive on the financial management
Ensure timely invoicing and appropriate levels of credit control
Ensure that lease requirements in relation to our building are met including calculation and payment of the service charge by tenants etc
To provide timely and accurate financial reports
To contribute to the overall smooth running of the office
Working with the Head of Operations and Membership to ensure that the membership database is accurately maintained.
Develop a good understanding of amusement machine taxation and be able to provide or source general taxation advice for members
Monitor external contracts to ensure they are properly discharged
To undertake any other tasks assigned to the post holder from time to time
PERSON SPECIFICATION
The post holder will need to demonstrate the following essential attributes:
Qualified member of a major accountancy body
Have at least 10 years experience working at a senior level with a reasonably sized organisation
Experience of managing a team
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent presentational skills and confidence in speaking to large groups
Commercial focus
Strong IT skills
Impeccable integrity combined with openness and transparency
The following would be advantageous attributes :
Knowledge of membership organisations such as a trade association
Experience of the amusement machine, gambling, tourism, exhibition or manufacturing sectors
