Elevation Recruitment Group are currently recruiting for a technically strong and results-driven Financial Controller for a leading service sector business based near Chesterfield (within easy access from M1, commutable from South Yorkshire and the East Midlands).

Reporting to the Finance Director, the primary purpose of the role will be to oversee the finance function - ensuring accurate and timely reporting/performance analysis is provided to support the needs of the business. Regular dealings with Senior Management would be expected, allowing this role to play a key part in commercial, operational and strategic decision making.

Responsibilities will include:

* Overseeing the finance team to ensure all reporting is prepared in a timely and accurate manner
* Keeping up to date with financial reporting standards and providing training and support to other team members as required
* Supporting the Finance Director and acting as the principal contact within the finance department for general queries - directing them to other team members as required
* Reviewing management accounts and reports for accuracy and following up on any unusual variances or findings
* Contributing towards the budgeting process by working with the team to ensure the process is running smoothly and support is provided. Reviewing the budget holder submissions and overall plan for consistency, challenging for cost savings and strategic focus
* Managing project-based work, including: Working with other members of the business to establish best practice; Prioritising and tracking finance related projects, working with team members to track progress and provide regular updates to the Finance Director
* Preparing the statutory financial statements for the business and managing the process for any joint venture and subsidiary companies to ensure accurate external accurate reporting

The successful candidate will require the following:

* CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualification
* Previous experience in a financial controlling role, overseeing a finance function
* Ideally proven in a fast-paced, challenging work environment
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with key stakeholders at all levels across a business
