Operations Finance Manager
Dartford, Kent with regular travel to East Grinstead
Working within Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Speciality Diagnostic Group, within the Microbiology Division (MBD), this role forms part of the Finance Operations team. Working within a team of experienced finance professionals, you’ll be helping a business that is dedicated to delivering quality products that help society.

The successful candidate will be the Finance lead for the Microbiology Division's manufacturing sites in Dartford and East Grinstead ($80m annual turnover, 200 headcount), with a strong bias towards on business partnering with the Operational team.
The role will be based at the Dartford facility but regular travel to the East Grinstead site will be required. Occasional travel to other MBD sites may also be required.
Responsibilities:
- Business partnering with Site Director and the leadership teams at both the Dartford and East Grinstead sites
- Management and development of direct report (site Operations Finance Accountant)
- Monthly MBD financial and operational reporting & bridge commentary
- Operations accounting, product costing, cost centre review & inventory control
- Material cost and overhead cost analysis
- Factory waste analysis and inventory excess & obsolete provisioning
- Drive inventory efficiency programme
- Tracking the site productivity and being an active member on the site PPI steering committee
- Analyse monthly and quarterly performance, with particular focus on KPIs and variance analysis against Plan, Prior Quarter & Prior Year
- Preparation of annual site budgets (AOP) and periodic forecasts
- Work with MBD UK shared service and US corporate teams for statutory reporting, tax and legislative compliance e.g. annual reports, transfer pricing
- Build financial models for capital investment appraisals and support business case proposals
- Continuous Kaizen focus looking for efficiency improvements in the finance function
- On-site support for AP and AR queries from MBD UK shared service function
- Ad hoc projects as required
Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- Professional accountancy qualification - ACA/CA/CIMA/ACCA
- Advanced user of MS Office Suite – Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Clear communication skills, written and verbal, including the ability to effectively communicate with non-finance colleagues
- Deep knowledge of P&L and working capital drivers within a manufacturing environment
- Experience of working with key functional stakeholders to divisional VP level
- Desire for career advancement within Thermo Fisher Scientific
Preferred Qualifications:
- CIMA qualified
- Significant experience in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of SAP business system
- Experience of Hyperion Financial Management tools
