About your job:

We are looking for a Financial Compliance Officer to join our team in London to ensure compliance with all financial external regulatory requirements in a complex and changing environment. You will support UK compliance with QR policies and procedures through self audit of finance tasks, internal/external audits and reviews with Head Office. You will identify gaps and implement best practice processes that can be a model for the network documenting them in the form of SOP/IAP to bring process improvements.  

Role Accountabilities: 

  • Ensure all UK Companies House filings are submitted on time and respond to Valuation Office and National Statistics Office requests in a timely manner
  • Ensure strong and good relations are built and maintained with respective internal and external customers for better compliance
  • Ensure related service providers contracts are in place for UK to ensure QR is fully compliant to receive their services according to local laws and follow up with the relevant user departments before the current contracts expire to ensure renewal processes are underway  
  • Upload new contracts and amendments to the Oracle contracts module, set auto alert reminders for renewals and review this on a quarterly basis to ensure the data is up to date and complete
  • Perform periodical self check to review  UK compliance with the relevant QR financial policies and procedures. make recommendations regarding process improvements with the aim of achieving 'best in class' in all areas reviewed
  • Review all new policies and procedures issued by Head Office
  • Assist relevant departments in developing local IAPs/SOPs by reviewing all Finance related aspects and making recommendations (eg rollout of ancillary services to GHA staff) and get it approved from Head Office
  • Provide support to auditors during internal and external audit by overseeing the provision of any information requested in advance, assisting with setting up meetings with any non-finance staff and follow up  to ensure all requested documentation is provided in a timely manner
  • Follow up on outstanding internal and external audit points to ensure all agreed actions are implemented    
  • Support monthly balance sheet review process and help review and action issues relating to AP and AR deadlines are met
  • Review statutory filing deadlines for QR and implement process and procedures to ensure these deadlines are met
  • Propose amendments and contribute and develop local SOP in conjunction with the Finance Manager on fraud screening 'rules and scores' to protect QR interests at all times.
  • Submit and write MIS/reports on various Fraud Statistics to management on a daily/weekly/monthly/ad hoc basis                   

About you:

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • A Bachelors degree or equivalent
  • Qualified or final stage student of IFAC recognised accounting qualification 
  • Previous experience working within a similar role 
  • Internal or external audit experience
  • An understanding or experience of EU customs and duty requirements would be helpful but not essential 
  • Experience of Oracle Financials or other ERP system
  • Strong influencing skills with ability to challenge current processes
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
