The Team: Morningstar’s Finance team is responsible for planning, forecasting, and analysing the company’s financial results. The team works collaboratively with our business groups to support them with timely and insightful information to make informed business decisions.

The Role: Morningstar Real Time Data seeks a Financial Analyst to join the UK finance team reporting into the UK Finance Director. The UK Finance team is responsible for the performance reporting and financial controls of all of Morningstar's business operations within the UK. Partnering with the UK business, the team operates within the Morningstar accounting framework, producing financial reporting consistent with US GAAP. The Financial Analyst supports the UK operational managers to play a key role in Morningstar's global financial reporting, appropriate for a publicly traded US corporation. The person will play a key role in the financial planning and reporting process, and will be expected to introduce improvements and efficiencies which will help to drive the UK business forward. This position is based in our London office.

Responsibilities:

+ Producing monthly management accounts for Real Time Data to tight deadlines (including P&L and balance sheet with accompanying reconciliations) Areas of responsibility will include  subscription revenue recognition, exchange and data accruals and transfer pricing.

+ Business partnering with the Real Time Data COO and key product managers through the creation of insightful commentary and analysis on key performance variances when presenting the results.

+ Assisting the Finance Director in co-ordinating business owners and other members of finance team in the preparation of rolling quarterly forecast and budgets for the European Shared Services and UK businesses.

+ Assuming a legal entity controllership role which requires ownership of entity results, becoming a focal point for global processes and co-ordination of statutory activities such as audits for Real Time Data Limited.

+ Acting as a senior member of the finance team, assisting in queries, reviewing other team members work and supporting the UK Finance Director on financial issues.

+ Working with the shared service centre in India to ensure contract approval and invoicing is conducted in a timely manner and correctly reflected in the financials , ensuring the worldwide billing is accurate and processed on a timely basis.

+ Ad-hoc reporting and preparation of reports for senior staff.

+ Supporting the UK Finance Manager on ad hoc projects as required.

Requirements

+ Knowledge of UK-GAAP / IFRS is essential and US-GAAP is desirable.

+ Excellent communicator with ability to build strong relationships at all levels.

+ Progressive experience gained in a similar role.

+ Hands-on experience with Oracle Financial Systems , Hyperion Financial Management and Salesforce is desirable.

+ Enthusiastic and approachable and able to engage operational managers on financial matters.

+ Detail-oriented with a passion for ensuring accuracy.

+ Strong analytical skills.

+ Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel essential.

+ A bachelor's degree or equivalent, as well as part qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent international accounting qualification.
