Goodman Masson has the pleasure of working with one of the oldest care charities in the UK to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant for their team.

Established in the 1800s this organisation has remained at the forefront of social care, and has constantly evolved to provide the best support and care for their customers and beneficiaries. If you are a proactive financial accountant who enjoys partnering with the business to improve processes and drive business development, this will be a good role for you.

Managing a team of 5, with 2 direct reports, you will lead on continuous improvement projects surrounding systems and controls infrastructure including the development of collections management. You will also work with the Senior Management Accountant, Assistant Director of Finance and Finance Director on designing and implementing business growth strategy and operational efficiency plans.

Job purpose:

*Production of the annual statutory financial accounts, including the audit schedules
*Preparation of quarterly VAT returns for trading subsidiaries and associated entities
*Oversee the preparation and production of the monthly, quarterly and annual draft financial information of the subsidiaries and associated entities
*Management of the Residential Fees Team with a particular focus on effective debt management including full participation in the recovery of outstanding debts
*Ensuring effective cash flow budgeting/forecasting and Treasury management
*Provide leadership, necessary training and support to the Finance team for the effective provision of financial services
*Deputising duties for the Assistant Director of Finance and Systems, as required

Person Specification:

*CCAB Qualified Accountant or equivalent
*Experience of UK Financial Reporting Standards (FRS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and UK Accounting Standards
*Experience as a senior Financial Accountant in commerce and/or the charity sector
*Confident in written and oral reporting
*Experience in managing and motivating finance teams
*Advanced Microsoft Excel, including the ability to set up multi-sheet, multi-file financial models
*Detailed understanding of the requirements of accounting for Charities - Statement of Recommended Practices (SORP 2005) and Companies Act (2006)
*Detailed understanding of direct (e.g. PAYE) and indirect taxation, particularly VAT requirements for charities
