Commercial Finance Director - Impulse

Here at PepsiCo, we're looking to hire a new Commercial Finance Director to act as a key business partner for our Impulse sales channel.

As a critical Business Partner to the Sales function, this role's main objectives will be to manage the overall channel performance and provide the appropriate rigour and strategic leadership towards the transformation efforts. It will initially have two direct reports, with a third in plan.

Accountabilities:

This role will be the primary Finance Business Partner for the Impulse channel. Partnering with the Senior Sales Director for Impulse, the individual will be responsible for both core operating performance (12 month timeframe, delivering AOP), and being the Finance lead for transformation (multi-year timeframe, defining and delivering PSP). It will be the most senior Business Partner in the Snacks Revenue team, so is expected to be a primary contributor to the culture and development of the team.

The core operating responsibilities include:

  • Lead and take responsibility for the total Impulse channel performance, building their annual net revenue plans, and where appropriate assess and approve Joint Business Plans with key customers and new business proposals.
  • Lead the reporting and explanation of Impulse channel revenue performance to the Impulse and Commercial leadership teams, to include promo evaluation, customer & category performance, and lessons for future activity.
  • Highlight future performance concerns and opportunities and steward process for evaluating options and investments required to close gaps across the Impulse channel.
  • Continuously challenge and optimise trade spend (sales P & terms) within the channel.
  • Support the delivery of Impulse Snacks Net Revenue plan via the management of two channel Business Partners (with a third in plan), and identifying and evaluating channel wide opportunities to gap close where necessary.
  • Own periodic Impulse performance review and Hit plan communications to the Leadership Team, providing understanding and insight into performance, outlook, risks/opportunities for the channel and balance sheet impacts (CY/PY).

Transformation responsibilities include:

  • Unlocking inefficient Sales Promotion and Terms spends, to allow for investments in Go-To-Market
  • Developing a GTM investment case
  • Assessing the vans operation, and making clear recommendations on a new business model
  • Establishing new performance tracking tools that capture both internal and external metrics
  • Optimising the Tier 3 set of customers, both in reporting and forecasting

Key skills and experience required:

Ideally, the individual should have significant experience in CPG, and be degree qualified.

Differentiating competencies required:

  • The Impulse channel is complex, and requires an ability to not get lost in the detail, but know how to identify issues and go deep. It also requires persuasive communication skills in order to drive positive tension and deliver results. Supporting the transformation of the channel will require a strong foundational skill-set in finance & leadership competencies, but also a "do different" approach to tackling issues.
