Accountant
£32,451 - £35,100 per annum
Northallerton, North Yorkshire
North Yorkshire is the largest policing area in England and the Finance Department plays a crucial role supporting our force and providing the most efficient and effective financial service.
We are now recruiting Accountants to work within our Finance department, based at Police Headquarters.
Our current vacancies are for permanent positions and a 2 year fixed term contract on a full time basis.
Accountants will engage with colleagues in other Areas/Department across the Force to provide the most efficient and effective financial service and will be responsible for the preparation and timely delivery of routine and non-routine management information.
The role requires analysis of financial performance to ensure linkages to operational activity for budget holders and preparation and preliminary financial analysis of capital, revenue and estates programmes each year and over the life of the projects. These outputs are reviewed in conjunction with the Head of Finance and the Finance Manager.
Other responsibilities will include contributing to the timely delivery of statutory statements of accounts and delivery of specialist programmes of work that ensure appropriate value for money analysis across the business. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring appropriate governance processes are adhered to.
Successful candidates will require excellent communication skills, with a proven track record of delivering improvements in financial and business processes. Previous experience of interpreting complex changing environments and aligning financial resources to meet organisational requirements is essential.
Applicants must be actively studying for CCAB qualification, or have equivalent experience.
The closing date for applications is 23:55 on Sunday 2nd October 2016.
