This is a truly exhilarating success story, which has seen our client grow significantly, leading to the decision to recruitment the newly created position of Finance Director. This is a Board role providing sound financial advice, guidance and stewardship.
This privately owned construction business has grown to c. £100m and future projections can see them reaching £200m+ within the next two or three years. They are prudent with no debt and this approach coupled with strong values and outstanding customer service has been a significant contributing factor to the growth.
They now need a commercial focused FD to not only bring better reporting and stronger compliance, but also a new dimension to the boardroom and somebody who can help identify risks and maximise opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide leadership on the finance and accounting strategies and to optimise financial performance and strategic position
• Contribute fully to the development of company strategy and forward planning across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers
• Provide detailed monthly management accounts with all relevant KPI's and analysis
• Creation of annual budget, monthly forecasting and communicating results with all relevant stakeholders
• Cash flow reporting and cash management
• Management of the finance function ensuring that strong controls and processes are in place as well as supporting and developing the team
• Preparation of annual statutory returns to include HMRC returns and data for tax pack
• Manage the annual audit process
• Manage key relationships such as Bank and Auditors
• Various ad-hoc reporting as required by the business
• Provide stewardship' to the Board to ensure business decisions are justified financially
We are seeking a Finance Director who is a qualified Accountant and has construction experience or exposure to a growing privately owned business in a similar sector with long term projects. You will have outstanding communication skills and the ability to manage/influence multiple stakeholders. With a significant focus in the early days on improving processes, systems and the suite of reporting; you must have excellent IT skills and ideally experience of implementing or upgrading systems.
