Following an internal promotion, my client, a large Manufacturing business just outside the Wigan area, is looking to appoint a Senior Assistant Accountant. The Senior Assistant Accountant will report into the Financial Controller and be responsible for assisting with the efficient running of the Financial Accounts functions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate varied experience within a busy, fast-paced finance function. You will be proficient in payroll processing and competent in general bookkeeping duties.
Key responsibilities include:
- Calculate and post monthly operations accruals e.g. utilities and CRC plus prepayments
- Fixed Asset Management
- Group Insurance provisioning, allocations and annual renewals, key point of contact
- Work closely with Management accounts function during month-end close activities
- Compile accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations; investigating and resolving queries promptly
- Payroll backup, performing full payroll, end to end, inclusive of payments, reporting and journals
- Budget preparation linking to areas of responsibility e.g. insurance, CRC
- VAT Management, inclusive of group quarterly returns and compliance, review of intrastat
- Quarterly CT POA and assisting in tax pack completion, R&D tax relief claims and other CT areas
- Management of customer claims provisions and external processes through to settlement assigned client rebate calculations
- Assist FC in the following areas Annual consolidation pack, Bank administration duties, liaison with bank and executing foreign currency purchases, HQ reporting e.g. IFRS conversion reports, Financial Accounts process reviews
- Co-ordinate responses to group internal auditors as required
- Office National Statistics report completion as required
- Provide analysis and information for areas of responsibility to external auditors
- Ability to deputise for Financial Controller and able to take responsibility for a wide range of work
