Client
My client is a residential development company who is looking to recruit a Project Accountant to be a finance business partner on new developments across the South East.
Role
You will ensure that the Group Financial Controller is supported by providing proactive financial information that supports the Company’s financial objectives, plans and targets, including cash flow in respect of a number of projects. This is a critical role for the business ensuring the integrity of information produced is not only accurate but analysed and reported on with a commercial outlook. This position will also involve revenue calculations, accruals, invoicing and debtor management for the business.
Duties will include:
- Principal accountant for all company projects and SPVs
- Responsible for maintaining company accounts by preparing, collecting and analysing accounting data Prepare monthly and annual financial closings and financial statements, including revenue recognition in line with IAS 11:Construction Contracts Prepare and maintain all supporting and supplemental financial work papers Adhere to financial policies, procedures and ensure internal controls are in place
- Oversee sales ledger, including obtaining PO’s, issuing invoices and assistance of collections to ensure a healthy cash balance
- Preparation, reconciliation and submission of all VAT & CIS returns Report and present updated financials to the board at quarterly meetings
- Measurement of actual project costs against planned costs and commentary on variances
- Developing feasibility appraisals for potential acquisitions including expected project & finance cash flows
- Emphasise areas of potential risk through sensitivity analysis and IRR calculations
- Producing budgets and forecasts within deadlines; review and analyse monthly costs to ensure they are in line with outlined budget/forecasts, research and resolve any material differences, make adjustments where necessary Implementing and maintaining robust financial controls across the project
- Supporting the project team in driving cost control and efficiently managing working capital

Person
You will be a qualified accountant with excellent communication skills. You will have experience of appraising large projects. Outstanding analytical and presentation skills are a key requirement of this role. An understanding of the property sector would be beneficial but not essential.
