Finance Director

The Role

Robert Half Finance and Accounting are working exclusively with TP Manufacturing to recruit a Finance Director. Reporting to the Managing Director of TP Manufacturing the successful Finance Director would look after two business units, Talon and Pendock which are part of the wider Davidson Group.

As Finance Director of TP Manufacturing responsibilities would include:

• Reporting to and supporting the MD of TPM in the growth and development of the business and its strategy.
• Supporting the Commercial and Operations teams in their information needs and helping monitor the performance of their initiatives.
• Dotted line responsibility to Group Finance Director
• Financial control of the assets and liabilities of the business
• Reporting monthly trading performance at month-end
• Liaison with the auditors at year end for statutory accounts purposes
• Preparation of the 3 year plan, annual financial budget and interim forecasts.
• Management of the (small) finance team in Gillingham and Telford. Regular visits to Telford will be required.
• IT requirements of the business - strategy and day-to day operations. (IT support is sub-contracted to a 3rd party specialist)

Upcoming Projects:

• Alignment of accounting systems of the two trading arms (Talon and Pendock) within SAGE 200. Talon currently uses Exchequer for its financial systems.
• The business is about to start a project to undertake a review of its current premises and determining its future requirements; the successful applicant will be expected to be play an important role in the project management.

Your Profile

The role of Finance Director would suit qualified (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) candidate although those that are qualified by experience will be considered. Experience of a manufacturing company with an understanding of stock and bills of materials is essential with some exposure to logistics/supply chain preferred.

As Finance Director you would be expected to be able to communicate with all levels of individual throughout the business, the role looks after businesses based across two sites therefore some travel is required, 2-4 times per month. Both sites currently have Accounting staff who would report directly to the Finance Director.

TP Manufacturing is a wholly owned subsidiary of Davidson Holdings Ltd an ambitious group of leading brands that manufacture a range of products for the plumbing sector.

TP Manufacturing comprises of two leading brands with an annual turnover in excess of £9m and 64 employees across two sites:

• Talon (Gillingham) - is a manufacturer of a comprehensive range of plastic pipe clips and fixings sold to plumbers merchants.
• Pendock (Telford) - manufactures plywood trunking and cubicle systems sold to merchants and contractors.

Whilst the role is based within the promises of Talon in Gillingham there would be some travel required to Pendock which is based in Telford. Both brands have separate management reporting to the MD and currently utilise separate accounting systems.

Salary & Benefits

£60,000 + Company Car, Bonus and additional benefits.
