Assistant Accountant

The SF Group are pleased to be recruiting for one of our market leading clients in the retail sector. The position is for an Assistant Accountant reporting into the Accountant/Finance Manager. From this close working relationship you will receive training and mentoring on the job, to enable completion of a financial qualification such as ACCA/CIMA/AAT. As an Assistant Accountant you'll assist the Accountant in the financial management and control of sites, including the following:

• You'll produce accounts to trial balance level including completing accruals and prepayments, ensuring all balance sheet reconciliations are fully supported and items are cleared in a timely manner
• You'll also provide accounting assistance to the sites on a daily basis including the review of profit & loss items and liaising with the sites on any queries
• You'll be responsible for control of debtors and creditors
• You'll be completing month end reports for accounts and assisting the Accountant with ensuring excellent internal controls are in place and the sites comply with the group audit requirements

Ideally you'll have proven experience in an accounts within the retail automotive sector, however applications will be considered from individuals from non-motor trade sectors and also from those looking to move from practice into industry. You'll be highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines. You'll also be a team player with good interpersonal and communication skills, and have the ability to work on your own initiative.
