My client is an established business with a history of staff retention and due to an impending retirement they are looking for someone to head up the small accounts team and look after the day-to-day running of the department;

Your duties will be varied and will include;

  • Overseeing sales and purchase ledger
  • Petty cash management
  • Maintaining fixed asset register
  • Prepayments and accruals
  • Nominal ledger
  • Reconciliations
  • Journals
  • Cash and bank management
  • Credit control - overseeing and managing
  • VAT returns
  • Preparing management reports
  • Monthly payroll and associated duties
  • Month end and year end payroll processing
  • Company insurance reporting and management
  • Pension scheme administration
  • Ad hoc duties

The successful candidate will have experience in a similar position working for an SME and will be happy to work in a hands-on capacity as well as ensuring that the team and the responsibilities run smoothly.

Experience of Sage or a similar accounting package is essential alongside a good standard of Excel and the ability to learn new IT skills.

Staff management experience is also key to this position.

The successful candidate will be AAT qualified or equivalent or studying towards ACCA or CIMA with the aim of qualifying.
